What size wall art suits a child's bedroom?
Above a cot or single bed, 12"x36" (30x90cm) or 16"x48" (40x120cm) is usually right - about two-thirds the width of the bed. In the narrow gap beside a wardrobe, a vertical 8"x24" (20x60cm) or 12"x36" (30x90cm) fits neatly. Keep larger sizes for a playroom wall where there is room to stand back from them.
How high should you hang art in a child's room?
Lower than in an adult room. Hang the centre at roughly your child's eye level - about 40-48in (100-120cm) from the floor for a young child - so the picture is actually theirs to look at. Above a cot, keep the bottom edge well clear of reaching height and fix it securely to the wall.
What art will a child not grow out of in two years?
Gentle illustration rather than licensed characters, and subjects with some longevity - animals, landscapes, skies, simple shapes. Soft, muted palettes age better than primary brights, which tend to date alongside the nursery furniture. Choosing something a little more grown-up than the child's current age means the room can change around it.
Is canvas art safe in a nursery?
Canvas is a sensible choice for a child's room because there is no glass to break. Our pieces are printed on canvas and supplied as a stretched canvas or in a wood, black, white, walnut or gold frame, all ready to hang. As with any wall-mounted item, fix it firmly and position it out of reach of a cot.
What colours work in a child's bedroom?
Soft, desaturated versions of whatever your child likes - dusty blue rather than primary blue, sage rather than bright green, blush rather than hot pink. These soothe rather than stimulate, which matters in a room meant for sleeping, and they let a bolder toy or bedding colour sit alongside without the room becoming loud.
