What is long narrow wall art?
Long narrow wall art is a canvas in an elongated format, made much longer than it is deep so it fills wall spaces a standard square or rectangular print cannot. Ours run from 8"x24" (20x60cm) to 24"x72" (60x180cm) in the slimmest shape, with fuller options at 16"x32" (40x80cm), 20"x40" (50x100cm) and 30"x60" (75x150cm). All can be hung either way: horizontally above a sofa or bed, or vertically in a hallway or alcove.
What wall spaces is long narrow art actually for?
The awkward ones: the strip above a sofa or headboard, the wall behind a dining table, a staircase or landing, a narrow hallway, the gap beside a doorway, and the run above a kitchen worktop. These are all spaces where the wall has one long dimension and one short one, which is precisely where a conventionally proportioned print looks lost.
Should long narrow art be hung horizontally or vertically?
Let the wall decide. If the space is wider than it is tall - above a sofa, bed or sideboard - hang horizontally. If it is taller than it is wide - a stairwell, a hallway between doors, an alcove - hang vertically. The same artwork often works either way, so measure the wall first and match the orientation to it rather than to the image.
What sizes does long narrow wall art come in?
The slimmest run is 8"x24" (20x60cm), 12"x36" (30x90cm), 16"x48" (40x120cm), 20"x60" (50x150cm) and 24"x72" (60x180cm). Where a wall can take more depth, there is also 16"x32" (40x80cm), 20"x40" (50x100cm) and 30"x60" (75x150cm). The smallest suit a narrow hallway, a kitchen wall or a space above a door; the middle sizes are the most versatile for a bedroom or a two-seater sofa; the largest are for above a king bed, a large sofa, or a wall that needs a genuine statement.
