What is long wall decor?
Long wall decor is any wall piece made in an elongated format rather than a conventional square or rectangle. This is our leanest shape - five sizes from 8"x24" (20x60cm) up to 24"x72" (60x180cm), hung horizontally or vertically. What is the difference between wall art and wall decor?
In practice, very little - wall decor is the broader term and tends to include mirrors, hangings and dimensional pieces alongside prints, while wall art usually means a picture. Everything in this collection is a canvas print, so it qualifies as both. If you are searching, try both terms: retailers use them interchangeably.
How narrow is too narrow for wall art?
For a canvas, around 8in (20cm) on the short side is the practical floor - go slimmer and the image has too little room to hold detail, and the piece starts to read as a strip rather than an artwork. On a wall narrower than about 16in (40cm), a single 8"x24" (20x60cm) vertical is usually the right call.
Does an elongated format change how a picture looks?
It does. With only one long axis, the eye travels along the piece rather than resting in the centre: landscapes gain a sense of distance, abstracts read as gesture and movement, and a botanical resolves into a single stem rather than a bunch. It is why the same image can feel quite different in a long format than in a square one.
What sizes does long wall decor come in?
Five: 8"x24" (20x60cm), 12"x36" (30x90cm), 16"x48" (40x120cm), 20"x60" (50x150cm) and 24"x72" (60x180cm). Each is available as a stretched canvas or in a floating or classic frame, in black, white, wood, walnut or gold, made to order and delivered ready to hang. If none of those is deep enough for your wall, the Narrow collection offers three fuller sizes up to 30"x60" (75x150cm).
